WSOPC announces Global Casino Championship dates

Last week, the World Series of Poker Circuit announced the schedule for the 2018 Global Casino Championship. This stop on the tour will conclude the 14th season with the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort playing host. The poker tournament will take place at the North Carolina casino from August 7th until the 9th.

The tournament is set to have a minimum of $1 million up for grabs in guaranteed prize money with the winner earning a World Series of Poker gold bracelet. Players competing in the Global Casino Championship can also take part in other events as the tournament will take place at the same time as the August Circuit at the Harrah’s Cherokee. This Circuit is the official starting point of the 2018/2019 WSOPC season. Beginning on August 2nd, the series will run until the 13th, featuring a high roller tournament and of course, the Main Event.

The Global Casino Championship will be the final event of this year’s season with 128 automatic qualifiers taking part. Of that amount, as many as 102 will be players who qualified for the event via the domestic tour. The remaining number will be those who qualified via international stops.

In a press release on the upcoming Global event, Regional Vice President and General Manager Brooks Robinson commented: “Harrah’s Cherokee is excited to continue to be a part of this summer tradition. The Global Casino Championship is a truly special event for us to welcome players from around the country as well as from around the world!”

With the Global Casino Championship, a winner of 2017/2018 international and domestic WSOP circuit stop Main Event will earn a free seat. The Casino Champion of each stop will earn a seat as well. The top 50 players of the season leaderboard competition in the domestic stops will be given an entry automatically into the tournament.

Players can continue to earn points in WSOPC events to hopefully earn a seat to the Gobal event via the leaderboard, with the last opportunity being during the Harrah’s New Orleans tour stop this May. Any stop after the New Orleans one will be awarding points for the 2018/2019 Circuit season.

On top of players who qualify for the Global Casino Championship, any player who is one of the top 100 players in the WSOP Player of the Year rankings from 2017 can buy-in directly to the event for $10,000. Players who won a gold ring event during a WSOP Circuit during this current season can also buy-in directly for $10k.
